Xenesis Beta Xenesis 0.93 Beta - Latest Revision ----------------------------------- - New options on the Sound menu which should help fix sound issues with some games. YM2612 Improv - enable or disable improved YM2612 emulation DAC Improv - enable or disable improved digital audio emulation PSG Improv - enable or disable improved PSG emulation These are all options that are present in the windows version of Gens but until now haven't been active in Xenesis. By default they are all set to On (they were defaulted to On in all previous versions of Xenesis too) I have had reports that the sound in some games hasn't sounded quite right and I believe these options will help to put that right. An example (and the one that I have received most reports about) is the sound made when Sonic jumps. Turning off PSG Improv makes this sound more like that produced by other emulators (I haven't had the chance to dig my Megadrive out and see how it sounds compared to the original yet). Now that this is done I want to spend the time (that I mentioned previously) working on the new features and tightening up my code with the aim of eventually getting this thing out of Beta! ;) Xenesis 0.92 Beta ----------------------------------- - Fixed SRAM/BRAM issue with some games (esp Dark Wizard for Sega CD) - Added support for E: and F: drives (silly typo kept it out of the last release) - XBox LED now flashes amber when accessing a Sega CD - Improved reliability of fast forward feature - Disabled Save Sates for Sega CD games (they don't work properly in Gens anyway) - Saving or Loading a State no longer returns straight to the game - Fixed a bug with the Sega CD eject/reload code - Fixed crashing problem when selecting screen stretch mode whilst in game list screen I guess this would probably be called a maintenance release. There are a few new features I want to add to Xenesis but I just haven't had time the last couple of weeks and I didn't want to wait that long without releasing anything. So I've decided to release this version to fix a couple of issues that were causing a few problems with v0.91. I'll probably spend a couple of weeks now working on the other stuff I want to add. So unless there are any serious problems with this release there probably won't be any updates for a couple of weeks. As always, please keep the bug reports and suggestions coming. They're really appreciated. Xenesis 0.91 Beta ----------------------------------- - Added better screen stretching support (can now toggle aspect ratio on/off) - Added screen positioning to the screen stretching option (use left thumb stick to position screen. Use X to centre it) - Added Fast Forward facility to help speed up game intros etc (hold left trigger and push right thumb stick to the right) - Fixed buggy video mode selection and widescreen support This release includes a couple of new features and (hopefully) one big problem. Quite a few people reported problems with their boxes locking when trying to boot the first release. After much scratching of the head I think I tracked it down to some bugs in my video mode and widescreen code. These should now be fixed and hopefully those people that had problems won't have them anymore. There are still problems with Xenesis and the IGR function of some versions of Evo-X. To be honest I'm not sure what I can do about those other than suggesting trying another version of Evo-X. I will look into it though, but my main focus this past couple of days has been to fix the above issue.
