X-Box Ripper
------------

Thanks for downloading the X-Box Ripper, any problems/questions/features you mail me using the address at the bottom of the page.

It has been designed with the basic to low intermediate user in mind, you only need a little knowledge of networking to get it going, therefore it makes it a very simple program to use. The reason I created it was a simple fact of getting fed up with making a directory then copying all the files accross from the X-Box by hand (for backup purposes only though;)

Usage:

First of all you need your X-Box username. This is simple as all are defaulted to "XBox" and as far as I know this cannot be changed.

Second comes the Password. This is also defaulted to "XBox", if you have no knowledge of where this is then use the defaut, if you changed it you will know where to find it.

Now comes the IP address (the complicated bit if you can call it that). This is a series of numbers in the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. I use 192.168.0.75 as default but any numbers will do really, I suggest you keep the 192.168.0 bit.
If you have no idea what I am on about then I will explain. The IP address (which is the numbers) is used to connect remotly to many FTP sites kept on the web but also are used to access your local X-Box. The settings can be found on your EvoX Dashboard but if your skin doesn't support this feature look in the Settings area.
I find it best to use a fixed IP address as this means you don't have to keep changing the numbers each time you reboot your 'Box.

The PC Path is the place it will copy (ahem, sorry... backup) all files to. If the 'Make Directory' is selected, the last directory in the path will be created for you but there has to be the previous ones present.

Thats the setting up done, it now remains to hit the Rip! button to start ripping.

You can see a simple status in the bar at the bottom but be patient, on a fast network (most are now) you can expect a full transfer between 5 and 40 minutes depending on how big the original Disc is. On a slow network you can multiply times by roughly 10!

Once completed you can burn to a CD or DVD (size dependant again) using Nero or similar program.

The settings for Nero are:
Burn an ISO/UDF disc, no mulitsession, File name Length=Max of 11, Format=Mode 1, Character Set=ISO 9660, Only Joliet and Allow more than 64 Characters checked, force DVD Video Compatibility on the UDF menu and leave everything else as is (except the write speed, you might like to lower it depending on your media). There is a full help available on this from the "Start Menu".
Add your files and burn at any speed you like and there you have it.

There you have it, my first little program freely available, hope at least some of you find it helpful, I know I did (after I got the %^*%"^@ coding sorted anyway!!)

IMPORTANT!! - Windows XP/Windows 2000
===========
If you get a message about replacing system files after installing then click cancel a few times, it will go away in the end. These don't actually need to be replaced so if you wish you can put in your WinXP CD.

This program has been designed on a Windows XP Pro machine, it is compatible with Win95/98/ME/NT/2000 and XP. Make sure you have DCOM95 installed for Win95, DCOM98 for Win98 (both on the Microsoft website). For Windows NT you will need service pack 3 or greater installed, ME/2000 and XP nothing is needed.

Email me at GSKMR2@aol.com, just to say you hate/love it (preferably more of the latter please!)
